Postdoc position in experimental plant ecology

The Ecology lab of Mark van Kleunen at the University of Konstanz is seeking an ambitious, highly motivated plant ecologist to work on major questions in the field of global change ecology. The successful candidate should have a background in experimental plant ecology (for example, competition experiments, plant-soil feedback experiments). The candidate should show strong interests in how global change drivers such as climate change and invasions affect plant communities and biotic interactions. The candidate is expected to develop interesting research projects, involving cleverly designed and well-replicated experiments in the greenhouse, garden or field. The candidate should have strong writing and statistical skills. As the position comes with teaching duties, teaching experience is preferred. The candidate is expected to contribute to courses in plant ecology and statistical analysis (in R), as well as to supervision of student projects. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to contribute to general group tasks.

We offer excellent greenhouse and garden facilities, a well-equiped plant-ecology lab, assistance from our supporting staff, and a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

The 100%-position will initially be for four years, but could potentially be extended. The position cannot become permanent but should qualify you for a permanent academic position elsewhere. The preferred starting date is 1 January 2025, but a later starting date is negotiable.
