Dear Evolutionary Biology PhDs and PostDocs,

We are excited to invite you to join the NLSEB PhD & PostDoc day, organized by the junior board of the Netherlands Society for Evolutionary Biology (NLSEB), on April 7th! To register, please fill out this form before March 14th:

The PhD and PostDoc day will take place on the Wageningen Campus in the Forum building. The program of the day is as follows: 

PhD/Postdoc day program

11:00 - 12:00  Walk-in lunch

12:00 - 13:00  Flash talks

13:00 - 13:15  Coffee break

13:15 - 15:15  Two parallel workshops        

Using Github by Arjan Draisma

Science communication by Marieke Drost

15:15 - 15:30  Coffee break

15:30 - 16:00  Short presentations on SciCom and Github

16:00 - 17:00 Round table discussions

17:00               Dinner

 

The following workshops will run in parallel – please use the registration form to indicate which workshop you prefer to attend. 

  1. Using Github hosted by Arjan Draisma:

Arjan Draisma from Wageningen University will give an introduction on Github and explain how to collaborate with fellow researchers through Github (https://github.com/adraismawur).

 

  1. Science communication hosted by Marieke Drost:

How to tell a story? Marieke Drost from Leiden University will give a workshop on how to make your research into a story that can be presented (https://analytic-storytelling.com/employee/marieke-drost/).

 Finally, a few practical matters:

  • All participants will be asked to prepare a brief (1 minute, 1 slide) flash talk about their own research.
  • The PhD and PostDoc day is free to attend (including lunch and dinner).
  • Next day, April 8th, the NLSEB conference will take place. Sign up for this event separately: Registration NLSEB conference on the 8th of April.
